Remote access infrastructure and PLC campaigns aboard PFLNG SATU & DUA — engineering that works 200 km from the nearest supplier
Aboard PETRONAS Floating LNG facilities, every PLC intervention historically required mobilising an engineer offshore — a boat or flight, permits, bed space, and days of lead time for what might be a one-hour logic change. PETRONAS needed the auxiliary PLC and HMI systems accessible, maintainable and secure — from shore.
RODATECH delivered the full EPCC of a remote access infrastructure for the auxiliary PLC/HMI control systems aboard PFLNG SATU and PFLNG DUA — VMware ESXi server hardware, software, in-house engineering, testing, site installation and after-sales support — covering a multi-vendor environment of Siemens, Allen Bradley, GE and Bently Nevada systems, with secure layered network segregation. Using that same infrastructure, our engineers have delivered work that once required full offshore mobilisation: BOG compressor alarm logic modifications on Siemens S7-400 (SIMATIC Manager / WinCC) diagnosed, modified and downloaded online; Allen Bradley ControlLogix troubleshooting; and PLC data backup campaigns.
Alongside the remote capability, RODATECH runs recurring offshore preventive and corrective maintenance campaigns for the Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC/HMI fleet — spares readiness and obsolescence studies, firmware upgrades, power-supply redundancy checks — mobilising offshore-certified engineers with the planning discipline offshore work demands.
Scope of Works
- EPCC — remote access infrastructure for auxiliary PLC/HMI systems (PFLNG SATU & DUA)
- VMware ESXi virtualisation servers: supply, engineering, testing, installation, support
- Secure layered network architecture across Siemens, Allen Bradley, GE, Bently Nevada systems
- Siemens S7-400 BOG alarm logic modification — modified and downloaded online via remote access
- Allen Bradley ControlLogix troubleshooting and online download
- Recurring offshore PM/CM campaigns: PLC/HMI fleet, spares & obsolescence, firmware, power redundancy
- Server, rack and SCADA workstation installation with individually tagged cabling and full documentation
Project Outcome
PLC and HMI systems aboard both facilities are now maintainable from shore — interventions that previously needed offshore mobilisation are executed remotely, with offshore campaigns reserved for planned PM/CM work. RODATECH has been re-engaged across multiple campaigns since 2021, with every handover delivered fully documented: tagged cabling, as-built network diagrams and commissioning logs.
